How We Started
American Finance Academy was born from frustration—the kind every small business owner knows all too well.
Our founder, Lisa Thompson, started her first business in 2015. Despite having a great product and passionate customers, she felt constantly overwhelmed by the financial side. Traditional accounting courses were either too technical or didn't address real small business challenges.
After finally mastering her own business finances (and making plenty of mistakes along the way), Lisa realized there had to be a better way to teach this stuff. She teamed up with fellow entrepreneurs who shared her vision: create finance education that's actually designed for real business owners.
Today, we've helped over 5,000 small business owners gain financial confidence. Our students don't just learn accounting—they learn to make better business decisions, reduce stress, and take control of their financial future.
